Camino Day 3 Zabaldika to Puente del Reina

Peak of Alto Del Perdón “ where the way of the wind meets the way of the stars” Views of journey travelled and views of the way forward.

After a breakfast at the albergue I headed toward Pamplona - about 8 km of rural landscape, mainly wheat fields before entering the city of Pamplona. I spent a while in the city viewing the ancient fortress which surrounds the centre, and the city square. Around 5 km of walking to get through the city, then toward the peak of Alto del Perdón which had spectacular ire’s from every direction. The paths were quite steep and rocky at times making the going slow. After the peak there was tricky rocky descent then walking through the villages of Uterga, Muruzabal and Obano, before reaching my destination. Beautiful poppy fields dotted the landscape, along with wheat until just before Obano where there were olive groves and grape vines.. reflecting the change in altitude and climate.

My albergue sleeps 100 - 13 euro for the night. I walked back to the Main Street and treated myself to a dinner of pork salami with capers and parmesan eaten with crusty bread, and serve with a local red wine.

Camino km for day 35km / total 95
