Camino Day 6 to Grañon via Santo Domingo

May 26. Travelled through lots of villages today , enjoying the Spanish tortilla for breakfast.

Main destination today was the cathedral in Santo Domingo. It is truly massive. Incredibly decorative the crypt and tombs as well as the alter area.

They keep chickens in the church (see info above)

Coming into Santo Dominico

Najero village

Snow peas!

After the church tour I walked to Grañon and stayed in albergue in the back of the church run by volunteers - stay for donation. Sleep on exercise mats on the floor.

Mass in the church after Community meal was prepared  by the 48 pilgrims staying there. The meal was the n shared and then a pilgrim blessing was shared before bed.

It wasn’t the most comfortable night after my 44 km walk for the day. Aching legs and a new blister! Total km so far 222.

Thin mats, cold floor, no sleeping bag or pillow so I slept in my cloths with my pashmina for extra layer and my cloches packing cube as a pillow
Smaller church in Grañon where we stayed in rooms attached to the church
