Packing Light






Very excited to be traveling for up to 6 months in the UK and Europe. 

Doing a blog (avoiding FB) for the first time in 10 years I’m a bit rusty.

Decided to travel as light as possible to avoid checked bags for the trip. 

Above is my main pack which is a 38 litre backpack which converts to a carry on bag. Weighed in at 6.8 kg it has all my clothes, toiletries, rain protection and a pair shoes. Yes .. just 2 pairs of shoes for the trip šŸ˜Š also my power pack, head torch and scrubba wash bag and clothesline. 

This bag is small enough and light enough to be carry on baggage for the flight. 


I also packed my laptop and a few personal items as my  personal bag for the flight. 


All up everything was under 10 kg.

Ready to go !

Well what a holiday WOW šŸ¤©  After 3 and half months on the road Deb & I decided that we would come home as it’s time. We were blessed with everything we experienced and the people we meet on the way but missing family and friends so time to get back to the best country in the world and this time of year the best part of our country NT Darwin. Frankfurt to Singapore 12.5 hours , 2 hour to changeover then Singapore to Darwin  nearly 5 hours. Arrived in Darwin lovely afternoon šŸ˜€ ☀️☀️

Touring Paris Citroen 2CV

  Had a great day with Deb yesterday touring around Paris in a Iconic French car the Citroen 2CV. Simon our driver tour guide a student from the UK that does this job part time was great as he loves driving in Paris. After the tour he dropped us off at the Arc de Triomphe and you and go up to the top for 13 euros ea. We walked straight in as with all the bad press on Paris not many tourists about but French Army everywhere  šŸš—šŸ˜ŽšŸ‡«šŸ‡·

Camino day 22 to Santiago

  Walking into the plaza facing the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela felt strangely surreal. Thoughts and expectations of what would the Camino be like, would I be strong enough, will I stay well, will I find somewhere to sleep?  How would I feel when I reached Santiago?  I felt overjoyed in completing the pilgrimage, I was amazed by the Cathedral and the tomb of Saint James, and grateful that the journey had delivered the simplicity of life as a pilgrim that I imagined.  At the start of the pilgrimage you are provided with your Credencial (pilgrims passport) which allows you to stay in the albergues, and is proof of your journey as you get it stamped at churches, places of interest, cafes and albergues along the way.
