Camino day 17 to Ponferrada then Cacabelos

 Daybreak at Cruz de Ferro, left my rock from Nightcliff and said a prayer for loved ones. Health Happiness and Love. 

Visited large city of Ponferrada magnificent castle after a morning of tough hiking through rough rocky steep tracks.

Another coffee stop after 12 km of hard trails. 

After Ponferrada walked to a couple of villages planning to stay at albergue in Camponaraya at around 36k Albergue was closed so another 6km walked through lovely countryside with vineyards, cherries, figs, apples, chestnuts and veggie patches to get to my lovely albergue at Cacabelos where I’m sharing a room with 3 others. A delicious salad with goats cheese and vino tinto (red wine) and I’m off to bed. 
Km today 42/ total 491 (under 200 to go to Santiago).

Well what a holiday WOW 🤩  After 3 and half months on the road Deb & I decided that we would come home as it’s time. We were blessed with everything we experienced and the people we meet on the way but missing family and friends so time to get back to the best country in the world and this time of year the best part of our country NT Darwin. Frankfurt to Singapore 12.5 hours , 2 hour to changeover then Singapore to Darwin  nearly 5 hours. Arrived in Darwin lovely afternoon 😀 ☀️☀️

Touring Paris Citroen 2CV

  Had a great day with Deb yesterday touring around Paris in a Iconic French car the Citroen 2CV. Simon our driver tour guide a student from the UK that does this job part time was great as he loves driving in Paris. After the tour he dropped us off at the Arc de Triomphe and you and go up to the top for 13 euros ea. We walked straight in as with all the bad press on Paris not many tourists about but French Army everywhere  🚗😎🇫🇷

Camino day 22 to Santiago

  Walking into the plaza facing the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela felt strangely surreal. Thoughts and expectations of what would the Camino be like, would I be strong enough, will I stay well, will I find somewhere to sleep?  How would I feel when I reached Santiago?  I felt overjoyed in completing the pilgrimage, I was amazed by the Cathedral and the tomb of Saint James, and grateful that the journey had delivered the simplicity of life as a pilgrim that I imagined.  At the start of the pilgrimage you are provided with your Credencial (pilgrims passport) which allows you to stay in the albergues, and is proof of your journey as you get it stamped at churches, places of interest, cafes and albergues along the way.
