Leon day 14 rest day
I had a rest day in Leon yesterday June 3. Started the day with a walk for coffee but nothing open until 9, saw market stalls being set up for the big markets in the Plaza near the albergue. Toured the spectacular Santa Maria Cathedral which is the largest church in the district and has the most stained glass of any in Spain. Built in the mid 13th century it has the amazing gothic roof structure. It has been renovated and restored over time and is a magnificent building to visit.

My next tour was the museum of Leon which exhibits a history of the region going back Before Christ. Stone Age implements, Bronze Age, Moziac’s from 300 AD, artwork, masonry, carvings and treasures to display the development on the region and society under many different regimes. I was fascinated and stayed till siesta closing time!
