The Hague








 Netherlands 🇳🇱 our next stop catching up with Deb & Lynda’s relations the Weerdenburg’s. Lynda debs sister is in town with her 2 girls Chloe  & Jesse so we hired a car as public transport is very expensive in Holland. Deb & I spent Wednesday 28th at the Van Gogh Museum then went out with Dutch family relatives for tea. Today meet up with Tante Riet Debbie’s father’s aunt from his Mothers side of the family and was a very emotional time as we remembered Debs dad family leaving Holland to start a new life in Australia back in 1959.

Imagine leaving your life to start a new one with 6 children under 13 years old moving to the other side of the world. I remember Gerard Debbie’s grandfather and Grandmother as hard working family and as I never meet Debs dad but stories of him as a strong hard worker made me think of what they made the most of their Opportunities that Australia had given them.

  We hired a car from Frankfurt and drove out to Nurburgring about 2H drive. Staying at Adenau town just 10 mins drive from the track in a Airbnb link below  👇   Last time I was here was 20 years ago with Larry and we did a lap in the rental car Can’t get away with this now as cameras all around the circuit.  My early 60th birthday present ,thanks Deb  ❤️ 2 laps in a GTI Golf from Apex car rentals for the track.  link below  👇 1st lap with a driving instructor and second lap with Deb , well not this afternoon as there was   2    separate accidents and oil on track so when track reopened I was the first one on the track for my first lap of the ring  🤩  Within 30 seconds the fast cars were on me and I was SHITING MYSELF as the closing speeds are incredible  😵‍💫  With my instructor giving me the heads up of where to go I was one eye on the front and one eye in the mirrors , crazy  😛  As the first lap was incredible but a relief we came back to Carpark to find circuit closed again. SR-71 Blackbird & Adrain Newey

Wow  🤩  what a day. Started with Duxford Imperial War Museum then Red bull F1 race team at Milton Keynes. The Duxford IWM is amazing with so many spitfires on display and flying as weather was perfect. This is the home of the Spitfires as it’s where the first ones flew. You could go up in one but at 3000 pounds for 30 mins would blow the budget. Spent 4 hours here my all time favourite SR-71 Blackbird built back in the 60s specifications  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_SR-71_Blackbird The afternoon went across to RB Racing and unlike Mclaren  👎  they let me in  👍 . 3RD Day Isle Of Man 🇮🇲

Turn up the volume ✅   Started the day with a TT Lap in a bus with James Hillier talking us through a lap, apex’s bumps,     cambers of the road what he does to get the best out of himself & the bike. Qualifying didn’t start till 6:30 so I traveled around and found a camp site northern part of the island for tonight. Watched Qualifying from Sulby school just on the inside and it is one of the fastest parts of the track WOW  🤩   Qualifying from 6:30pm till 9:30pm when the roads are reopened up. it’s daylight till then. Oil was on part of the track and held up a bit of the running but all got through cleanly.
