UNESCO world heritage site at Atapuerca. Whilst building a railway ancient human remains were found .. up to 600,000 years old. Along with cave paintings, bowls and implements.  Walked past the Bridgestone factory 10million tyres made here. Factory goes for a kilometre.. Cathedral Santa Maria in Burgos  Tapas and wine   My first stop today after leaving Villafranca was at this little quirky food offering in the middle of the forest. Playing pink panther theme song when I arrived then James Bond theme song then “these boots are made for walkin”. Coffee an apple and a pastry please .. how much? Donativo was the reply (donation) Fantastic!  I had a great nights sleep last night so my pack felt light again! The rest of the days walk was through villages until the outskirts of Burgos. 6km through industrial area before reaching the city peregrino precinct and my albergue, 10€. Gorgeous morning with a hot air balloon in the distance to start my journey today. No large cities today, I walked though 7 villages sampling coffee ,  and croissant with sausage at one. I need to improve my Spanglish! My pack felt heavy for the first time, probably due to poor sleep and lots of km previous days. Took it easy and decided to stay at Villafranca at 28km of walking for the day. The albergue is attached to a fancy hotel San Anton Abad and is luxury for 15€. You get a blanket and Wi-Fi!  Church in Belorado I went down the street after cleaning up and had a meal with beans and Jamon(ham), black sausage, crusty bread and red wine. Ready for an early night.  Total Camino km after 7 days : 250  

May 26. Travelled through lots of villages today , enjoying the Spanish tortilla for breakfast.  Main destination today was the cathedral in Santo Domingo. It is truly massive. Incredibly decorative the crypt and tombs as well as the alter area.    They keep chickens in the church (see info above)  Coming into Santo Dominico  Najero village Snow peas!  After the church tour I walked to Grañon and stayed in albergue in the back of the church run by volunteers - stay for donation. Sleep on exercise mats on the floor.   Mass in the church after Community meal was prepared  by the 48 pilgrims staying there. The meal was the n shared and then a pilgrim blessing was shared before bed.  It wasn’t the most comfortable night after my 44 km walk for the day. Aching legs and a new blister!   Takes about 2:5 hours drive up from the British Car Museum to Liverpool yesterday arriving around midday to get a place to stay in my MH close to the ferry for The Isle Of Man  🇮🇲  that I take Saturday evening. Paid 10 pounds for tonight 24hour security parking, Michael & his dog sleep on site, what a character. Going on the bus Beetles Magical Mystery Tour Saturday and also on this weekend is the navy in town for the Battle of the Atlantic 80TH Anniversary and as a bonus they had a Lancaster Bomber fly over in formation with a Spitfire & Hurricane,  WOW  🤩  . Weather forecast for next week is looking great on the  🇮🇲   👍😎🏁

May 25. A welcome sight was this little food stall in between villages about 12km into my walk today. Delicious almond pastry was just the fuel to keep me going on my 40 km today. Total Camino km 178 The trail was rocky and tough going at times. Downhill with pack extra weight is hard on my feet with a couple more blisters. This region is mainly vineyards and olives and wheat.  Traveling through the city of Logroño was hectic as it was mid afternoon and after school time.  Finally on the open trail into Navarrete I checked into a municipal albergue and grabbed tapas red wine a paella for dinner.  Rocky soil Bridge out of Logroño  Chapel in Logroño - the more I travel along the Camino the more grand the churches are !  Local Wine region  

  British Motor Museum   Stayed Wednesday night on the Thames river at Shepparton Lock free parking and they gave me the opportunity to operated the lock for boats going up a down the river. Next day went to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon with Jaguar Heritage Museum & workshop next door. Missed the Silk Cut Jags by a day as they were on the way to Le Mans for the 100th anniversary. Mechanic’s we’re trying to get started the Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart Gas Turbine Rover-BRM race car that raced and finished 10th in the 1965 Le Mans. Spent another 3 hours here with everything from Lady Penelope’s limo to a twin engined Moke also the 2004 Mark Webbers F1 Jag. 👍😎🏁
